Jeju City said on the 18th that it was intensifying the removal of illegal banners through the 22nd to coincide with the 107th National Sports Festival.

The cleanup aims to improve the urban environment for festival visitors and ensure traffic safety. A joint public-private inspection team involving the city and an outdoor advertising association is focusing on political party banners and commercial banners, including apartment and retail property sales advertisements and advertisements for gyms and private academies.

Political party banners are checked for compliance with rules on their number, display period and location. Commercial banners are inspected for unauthorized installation and placement at intersections, roadsides or other locations that threaten traffic safety.

The city removed 683 illegal banners over the four days from the 12th to the 15th. It plans to continue inspections until the festival ends and to keep addressing illegal advertisements afterward.
