Committee approves plans for permanent UAE embassy in Herzliya Pituah

The Tel Aviv District Planning and Building Committee approved plans Tuesday for a permanent United Arab Emirates embassy in Herzliya Pituah, allowing a building of up to 15 stories.

The Tel Aviv District Planning and Building Committee approved plans Tuesday for a permanent United Arab Emirates embassy in Herzliya Pituah. The decision comes six years after the signing of the Abraham Accords and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and the UAE.

The approved plan permits a building of up to 15 stories containing embassy offices and residences for the ambassador and diplomatic staff. The planning approval clears the way for progress on the mission's permanent headquarters in Israel amid regional tensions affecting relations between the two countries.

The Israel Land Authority said the search for a permanent location had been requested by the Prime Minister's Office. It described finding the land as a complex process involving negotiations with various parties. Mayor Yariv Fisher had also welcomed the planned construction of the UAE embassy in Herzliya.
