The Yeonsan Jujube Culture Festival opened on the 9th and runs for three days through the 11th. Its budget is 230 million won, with an emphasis on promoting locally grown jujubes and bringing residents and visitors together rather than staging large-scale performances.

The festival takes place in Yeonsan-myeon, Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province. Residents of the area, which has a population of about 6,000, help prepare the event, perform on stage, volunteer at the venue and welcome visitors.

The jujube sales area offers fresh jujubes harvested this autumn as well as dried jujubes. Visitors from around the country taste the fruit, ask about prices and select products, while vendors recommend and package their goods.

Residents who learned singing, line dancing and other activities through community programs also perform on stage. Their festival performances showcase what they have learned and draw applause and encouragement from spectators.

The Nonsan Culture and Tourism Foundation manages the festival overall. The foundation said it would have been difficult to create the current festival atmosphere without residents' active participation.

The names of the event manager and safety manager are displayed at the venue entrance. The arrangement is intended to help visitors identify the responsible staff when they experience inconvenience or raise complaints, enabling a prompt response on site.
