Russian bombs hit Zaporizhzhia homes after Trump announces diesel deal
Officials said three children were killed and at least 16 people wounded in Russian strikes on Zaporizhzhia, a day after President Trump announced a deal to buy Russian diesel.

Russian aerial bombs struck residential buildings in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region on Saturday, officials said. Three children were among those killed, and at least 16 people were wounded. The attack followed President Trump's announcement a day earlier of a deal to buy Russian diesel.
Trump said Friday that he reached the agreement in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He announced supplies of more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel immediately, another 500,000 tonnes in November 2026 and 1 million tonnes immediately after that.
The Treasury Department said Friday it would temporarily waive sanctions on Russia's energy sector to permit Russian diesel to reach the global market. Trump's announcement followed a Russia sanctions law he signed last month targeting oil and gas revenues that finance the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy opposed the deal in an online response, describing it as an investment that would prolong the war. He argued that it would enable Russia to continue killing and fighting while showing less respect for America.
