Dementia care center budget rises this year but remains below 2024 level

The budget for dementia care centers rose to 156,665,000,000 won this year, but remained below the 167,047,000,000 won allocated in 2024.

This year's budget for dementia care centers is 156,665,000,000 won, up from 150,577,000,000 won last year. It remains below the 2024 budget of 167,047,000,000 won, however, and has not fully recovered last year's reduction.

The Open Fiscal Data disclosure system lists this year's budget for the dementia management infrastructure program at 184,928,000,000 won. Annual funding fluctuated from 207,674,000,000 won in 2022 to 189,753,000,000 won in 2023, 191,989,000,000 won in 2024 and 178,235,000,000 won in 2025.

The dementia management infrastructure program funds the establishment and operation of community dementia facilities. Its scope includes one central dementia center, one dementia counseling call center, 17 regional dementia centers and 257 dementia care centers.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare's utilization target for dementia care centers this year is 84.5%. The measure is the share of registered patients who use the centers; the target was 81.2% in both 2024 and 2025.
