Presidential Chief of Staff Lim Kwang-hyun responded on the 29th to opposition criticism of President Lee Jae-myung's second son's stay at the Hannam-dong official residence. Lim said describing it as benefiting from his father's position was somewhat excessive.

The response came during the National Assembly's House Steering Committee audit of the presidential secretariat and other offices. Lim was answering a question on the issue from Reform Party lawmaker Chun Ha-ram that day.

Lim said there had been many instances of previous presidents living with their unmarried children. He suggested that the fact that presidents' children also receive security protection had probably been a consideration.

He also addressed expenses associated with the second son's stay at the official residence. Lim said he understood that President Lee was taking appropriate and proper measures regarding expenses and related matters concerning his second son's residence there.
