Hospital says four killed in EUFOR helicopter crash in Bosnia

Four crew members were killed and 11 injured when an Italian helicopter serving with the European Union's EUFOR military force crashed in Bosnia, according to a local hospital.

An Italian helicopter serving with the European Union's EUFOR military force crashed in Bosnia, killing four crew members and injuring 11, according to a local hospital.

EUFOR said the Chinook CH-47 helicopter was carrying out a routine mission when it crashed in the Brcko region, about 180 kilometres north of Sarajevo.

A Brcko hospital spokesman said 15 people had been aboard the helicopter. Three died in the crash, and a fourth subsequently died in hospital.

EUFOR said it was conducting a full investigation into the incident and would release further information as it was verified and when appropriate.

In an earlier statement, EUFOR said no civilians had been injured and no civilian infrastructure, property or vehicles had been damaged in the crash.
