The Second Signal is a drama whose broadcast was delayed following controversy over an actor's private life. tvN issued its response after reports emerged that the drama would be scheduled for December.

Signal 2 is a sequel to Signal, which aired in 2016, and was produced to mark tvN's 20th anniversary. Kim Eun-hee returned from the first season to write the script, and Kim Hye-soo and Lee Je-hoon also appear.
