Aliko Dangote plans to invest $1.5 billion to expand a pipeline network in Kenya. His company has bought a 25% stake in the Kenya Pipeline Company as part of his effort to expand the oil and gas business into an operation spanning Africa.

The pipeline expansion forms part of Dangote's plan for a distribution network encompassing regional tank farms and other pipelines to connect the group's refineries with prospective markets across the continent. The conglomerate, built on cement and food products, is expanding its Lagos refinery and recently broke ground for a second refinery on Kenya's coast. An oil price shock caused by the Iran war has put pressure on East African countries dependent on Middle Eastern imports, increasing demand for Dangote's fuel products.
