Gwacheon said on the 20th that the Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town library project had passed the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's central investment reassessment for local government finances. The project is intended to provide a multipurpose cultural space within Knowledge Information Town.

The library is planned for Public Office Site 3 in Galhyeon-dong, with a total project budget of 570 hundred million won and a gross floor area of 7,556 square meters, comprising one basement level and three aboveground floors. Plans include reading rooms for infants, children and general users, an English experience area for children, a digital experience space, a youth culture and arts space, and media facilities.

The project was initiated to expand limited cultural and educational infrastructure in the growing Knowledge Information Town and provide residents with reading and information services. Design work followed conditional approval in the central investment review in August 2023, but increased project costs due to inflation and other factors required a feasibility reassessment and another central investment review.

Gwacheon plans to begin construction in July 2027 after fulfilling the reassessment approval conditions, completing detailed design and proceeding through administrative steps.
