Texas early voting opens Monday with record 19 million registered voters
Texas begins early voting Monday with a record registered electorate after technology failures left counties handling delayed or corrected voter records close to the election.

Early voting begins Monday in Texas with a record 19 million registered voters. Technology failures have left counties processing thousands of delayed or corrected voter records just days before the election.
Figures released Friday by the Texas Secretary of State put registration at 19,041,684 ahead of the November 3 election. That is 553,518 more registered voters than last November, an increase of about 3 percent.
Counties have faced two separate technology problems. An earlier error involving online transactions through the Texas Department of Public Safety delayed more than 500,000 voter-registration records and updates, with some dating to October 2025.
The newer problem affected people who were already registered and were changing a name or address through Texas.gov. Those records should not be treated as 15,000 applications from new voters.
The Secretary of State says voters who registered through DPS online services but are missing from the rolls can cast provisional ballots. Officials can verify the transaction, and a ballot will count if they confirm that an eligible voter registered in time, the agency says.
Early in-person voting runs from Monday through October 30. Applications for mail ballots must be received by October 23.
