UKMTO says at least 12 ships attacked in week ending October 16
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said at least 12 ships were attacked in the week ending October 16, announcing the figure late Friday.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, or UKMTO, said at least 12 ships were attacked in the week ending October 16. The maritime security organisation announced that figure late Friday.
UKMTO warned that most attacked vessels were refusing to report incidents to it, making an accurate count difficult. It said other sources had alerted it to more incidents in the waterway, but insufficient information prevented verification.
US Central Command chief Brad Cooper claimed in a video message late Friday that 400 ships and 100 million barrels of oil had moved through the Strait of Hormuz over the past week despite Iranian attacks.
On Saturday, the IRGC said a supertanker carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil caught fire after striking a mine while taking a route it described as unauthorised.
Iran's state-run Press TV shared footage it said showed the tanker on fire. CENTCOM, however, said it had cleared the strait of naval mines and that vessels were being hit by projectiles.
