Trump administration considers $100 million intelligence operation for deportation efforts
Federal procurement records show the Trump administration is considering a $100 million nationwide intelligence operation to support Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation efforts.

The Trump administration is considering a $100 million nationwide intelligence operation to bolster Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation efforts. Federal procurement records describe plans for more than 140 specialists to analyze classified and unclassified information at locations across the country.
The program remains at the procurement stage. ICE's Request for Information describes market research and acquisition planning, rather than a solicitation or commitment to award a contract. The documents do not establish that the proposed 142 specialists have been hired or deployed.
The proposed program, Enforcement and Removal Operations Overwatch and National Security Enforcement, is known as ERO One. It would provide intelligence and analytical support to ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations division.
An ICE spokesman said the agency was operationalizing the Overwatch program because of what he described as an exponential increase in threats and violence against personnel.
The proposed work may involve classified and unclassified sources, law-enforcement-sensitive information, personally identifiable information, operational information and other protected government information.
The document limits contractors to analytical support. They would have no authority to make final decisions on investigations, targeting, enforcement, detention or other government actions; those decisions would remain with government officials.
