Russian missiles and drones struck Kyiv overnight, leaving at least three people dead and 22 injured. Rescue workers searched the wreckage of damaged buildings in the Ukrainian capital on Wednesday.
In Desnianskyi district, an attack on a nine-storey residential building killed two people and injured 21, including a child. Emergency crews rescued 16 residents as firefighters tackled a blaze covering 400 square metres. Sixteen injured people were hospitalised, four in serious condition.
A non-residential building was hit in Holosiivskyi district, where one person was killed and another injured. Emergency service psychologists assisted 110 people at the affected sites.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that a ballistic missile hit the CHP-4 heat and power plant as the strikes targeted Kyiv's energy infrastructure. He said Ukraine received no warning from its partners before detecting the incoming missiles.
The broader overnight attacks on energy facilities left more than 600,000 people without electricity across Ukraine.
