Harmanpreet Kaur has stepped down as captain of India's women's cricket team across all formats, ending a stint that included the team's first ICC Women's World Cup title. She led India to that championship on home soil in 2025.

Kaur announced her decision in a social media post on Tuesday. The announcement came two weeks after she led India to a successful defense of its Asian Games gold medal.

The 37-year-old had held the Twenty20 captaincy for more than a decade, having taken the role in 2016. She subsequently took on the one-day international and Test captaincies in 2022.

Kaur captained India in five Tests, 51 one-day internationals and 155 Twenty20 internationals. She was also the first cricketer, male or female, to captain a national side in more than 150 Twenty20 international matches.
