Lil Durk acquitted of all charges in federal murder-for-hire case

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Durk was acquitted Friday of all charges in a federal murder-for-hire case. The case concerned an accusation that he arranged a revenge killing in a daytime ambush in Los Angeles four years earlier.

Banks remains in custody despite being found not guilty in this case. He faces a separate trial scheduled for October 5 on racketeering murder and firearms charges.

The 33-year-old had faced five felony counts, including murder for hire resulting in death and conspiracy. A conviction could have brought a life sentence.

Supporters cheered outside a Los Angeles courthouse after the verdict. Jurors had deliberated for three days before reaching their decision.

Defense lawyer Drew Findling said the recording artist was thankful after the verdict. The rapper’s real name is Durk Devontay Banks.
