The North Lot Family Dwelling is slated to reopen in 2029 after a restoration estimated at $1.5 million. Funding includes a federal grant matched by the Team Kentucky GRANT Program, private donations and in-kind support from Shaker Village's preservation team.
Shaker Village has received $750,000 through the federal Save America's Treasures program to support the work. The historic dwelling once housed newcomers to Shaker life and stands within the village's 3,000-acre National Historic Landmark, where plans call for welcoming visitors again.
Structural and water damage currently put the building at risk. The restoration is planned in three phases, covering structural repairs, work on the masonry and exterior, and full upgrades to the building's mechanical systems to address its deteriorated condition.
