Norway's prime minister says drone nearly hit Zelenskyy's plane; Ukrainian source disputes risk
Jonas Gahr Store described a near collision during takeoff from Moldova, while a Ukrainian presidency source said the danger to Zelenskyy was exaggerated.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said Wednesday that a drone almost struck the plane carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as it took off from Moldova for Oslo. Store gave no further details about the incident.
A source in the Ukrainian presidency disputed the level of danger, describing the claim that Zelenskyy was at risk as exaggerated. The source said an alert was issued in Moldova when a Russian drone entered Moldovan and Romanian airspace.
Zelenskyy arrived in Oslo on Tuesday evening and met Store, Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide. Their talks covered Norwegian military aid, including air defense support, and civilian assistance. He attended King Harald V's funeral Wednesday before leaving for Canada for talks with leaders there, Store said.
