Bahamas police say human remains recovered after aircraft disappears
Police said human remains were in their custody following the disappearance of an aircraft in the Bahamas.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force said Tuesday that human remains had been recovered following the disappearance of an aircraft. Police said the remains were in their custody.
The plane went missing Monday after departing Great Harbour Cay in the northern Bahamas for Miami Executive Airport in Miami-Dade County, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said.
Police said the remains were being transported to New Providence. Officers had been mobilized to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority of the Bahamas said the aircraft had not been located. Neither had any associated wreckage or debris.
The AAIA is coordinating its investigation with the United States National Transportation Safety Board, the United States Federal Aviation Administration and other national and international agencies.
The AAIA said investigators had not yet determined the cause or any contributing factors at this early stage.
